Highland Concepts fulfills a long-term dream to reunite the talents of its owners. Keith and Susan met in college while working on a student rocket project for NASA. As head of the mechanical team, Keith was responsible for designing and constructing the payload for a 36 foot, two-stage sounding rocket that launched from the Wallops Flight Facility to take measures in the upper atmosphere. Susan headed up the communications and outreach team, becoming fluent in translating geek-speak into everyday English and promoting the engineering endeavors. Both went on to graduate from Penn State University and secure day jobs for organizations on the cutting edge of applied research and public policy.
Keith and Susan always dreamed of teaming up again. One marriage, two kids and 20 years later, their dream is a reality. Combining Keith's technical skills with Susan's marketing prowess, Highland Concepts was born. Keith built a custom 4’x 8’ CNC machine, using his years of experience as an electrical and software engineer to design all of the control electronics. Susan enthusiastically uses the communications skills that she has developed throughout her career to handle the marketing and administration side of the business. They collaborate together to design and create their whimsical wood products.
